A resolution calling on Great Britain not to yield to Arab demands for suspension of Jewish immigration into Palestine will be presented by the Board of Deputies of British Jews to Prime Minister Stanley Baldwin and William Ormsby-Gore, Colonial Secretary, it was announced today.
The unanimously-adopted resolution said suspension of immigration could only be interpreted as a surrender to violence.
It expressed confidence that the Royal Commission, which will leave shortly to investigate the Palestine disorders, will not question the fundamental terms of the League of Nations mandate and that a solution to the present difficulties can be found within the framework of the mandate to assure Arabs their legitimate interests, at the same time to accelerate the development of the country and facilitate steady immigration of Jews to the limit of Palestine absorptive capacity.
