(Jewish Daily Bulletin)
Congressman Meyer Jacobstein is the fourth leading Jew in New York State prominently mentioned for nomination as Governor on the two major party tickets during the current campaign.
Friends of the Congressman are circulating a petition addressed to Governor Alfred E. Smith urging Jacobstein’s nomination at the state convention here October 1. His friends look at his possible nomination optimistically. especially because of a statement by United States Senator Robert F. Wagner declaring he will not be a candidate, at the same time expressing praise for Congressman Jacobstein. In the event another is chosen for the nomination. his friends hope to urge Mr. Jacobstein for Lieutenant Governor.
Albert Ottinger, now Attorney General for New York State will almost certainly be the Republican candidate for Governor, it is generally agreed. For the Democratic nomination, those prominently considered are: Herbert H. Lehman of New York and Justice Joseph Proskauer of New York.
