Brazilian Jews mourned the death of Brazilian diplomat Sergio Vieira de Mello, a high U.N. official killed in Tuesday’s bombing in Baghdad. “Sergio was an ambassador for peace. Terrorism started to develop against the Israelis and now it somehow hit Brazil,” said Edda Bergmann, president of B’nai B’rith Brazil. Vieira de Mello, the United Nations’ high commissioner for human rights, had played key roles in U.N. missions in Africa, Bosnia, East Timor and Iraq.
