Defense Minister A.V. Alexander, speaking in Commons today, declared that if the local military commanders in Palestine decide to put the British forces there on a war footing, they would have the complete support of government.
He repudiated as an “unfounded aspersion” the Jewish Agency charge that British forces were implicated in the Jerusalem bombing on Sunday which took the lives of 53 Jews and wounded more than twice that many.
