The collection of funds for the Zionist undertakings in Palestine is being seriously affected by the attitude of the British government towards the Jewish National Home, particularly its delay in issuing a clear and definite statement of policy concerning its future plans in Palestine, according to a survey of the Zionist situation made by the political correspondent of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency.
As a result of a slight increase in unemployment in Palestine, which is partly due to the world-wide economic crisis, which is also affecting Palestine, and partly because of the disheartening effect on the Jews of Palestine and abroad of the suspension of immigration many people and industrial and commercial undertakings in Palestine have adopted a watchful, waiting attitude. They are hesitating to undertake new enterprises or to make new investments before the policy of the British government is made clear. Not only is the collection of funds being affected but the readiness of the Jews throughout the world to continue their investments in Palestine is also being weakened.
