The Board of Deputies of British Jews today adopted a resolution calling for the integration of Jewish Jerusalem into the state of Israel. Pointing out that the Jerusalem issue is due to arise in the United Nations at the current General Assembly session; the resolution declares:
1. Its conviction that the integration of the Jewish area of Jerusalem into the state of Israel is the minimum solution which would give satisfaction to its inhabitants and also lead to the further development of the city; 2. Its belief that such a decision would be compatible with international safeguards guaranteeing free access to and free worship at the Holy Places; and, 3. Urges the British Government use its influence and authority among the United Nations, not only for adoption of this policy but also for the conversion of present armistice agreements between Israel and her neighbors into permanent peace treaties ensuring thereby, the stability and prosperity of the Middle East.
