An engagement between Royal Air Force planes and an Arab band, in which several harass were killed and one plane was forced down, today featured the British drive on Arab terrorism in preparation for Britain’s announcement of a new Holy Land policy, as further troop reinforcements arrived at Haifa.
While troops were searching the village of Bela, planes spotted a band attempting to flee. They swooped down on the rebels with machine-guns blazing. One pilot was forced down and slightly injured, but managed to escape from the wreckage of his plane. troops rushed to the spot and shot dead an arab attempting to ransack the plane, salvaged its arms and set fire to the ruined hulk.
Troops also inflicted a number of casualties on a band which ambushed a military attachment at Kfar Rai in Samaria. the american Jewish colony of Kfar Brandeis, named for the United States Supreme Court Justice, was heavily fired upon, but no casualties were reported.
