The British Youth Council for Christian-Jewish Relationships at its conference today adopted a resolution expressing its horror at the Nazi massacres of Jews and urging that every effort be made to map out a plan “for the immediate rescue of these defenseless human beings.”
At a meeting of students of the University of Manchester, Vice-Chancellor Sir John Stopford urged that steps be taken “for the evacuation of every Jew that can be saved from Nazi Europe.” He demanded that immediate consideration be given to the possibility of exchanging enemy prisoners for Jewish children in Nazi territories and suggested that Palestine be opened to every Jew rescued from the Nazis. He also urged international aid to neutral countries to enable them to admit Jews from Nazi-controlled territory.
