Encouraged by their success in securing contributions of $15,000 at a dinner at the Concourse Plaza Hotel Wednesday night, the Jews of the Bronx yesterday began an intensive drive in this borough to secure their quota of the $1,250,000 fund which is being raised in the metropolitan area to carry on a program of reconstructive aid among Jews of Germany and Eastern Europe and for their settlement in Palestine. The quota of the Bronx is $100,000.
Speakers at the dinner included Nathan Straus, guest of honor; Rabbi Jonah B. Wise, national cochairman of the drive, Rabbi Barnett R. Brickner of Cleveland, Abraham Krasne, chairman of the Bronx division; M. Maldwin Fertig and I. Teitelbaum, chairman of the dinner committee, who presided.
