Egged bus drivers are expected to deliver their passengers to their destinations safely.
But this week, one Egged driver made a different type of delivery – for a passenger whose mother went into labor on the Tel Aviv-Ashdod route.
When the woman went into labor prematurely, the driver pulled the bus over and helped deliver the baby, who weighted less than 2 pounds, Israel Radio said.
The mother and son were then taken to a hospital.
The Egged bus cooperative was considering giving its newest passenger free travel for life on the Tel Aviv-Ashdod route, Israel Radio reported.
