A Yom Kippur message to the Jews in Germany, Holland and Czechoslovakia was broadcast today over the short-wave transmissions of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation by the Canadian Jewish Congress.
The message emphasized that the Jews of Canada have never forgotten their brethren in Europe and have contributed millions of dollars for their relief through the Joint Distribution Committee, and shipped scores of tons of foodstuffs and clothing. The broadcast quoted a statement by Samuel Bronfman, president of the Jewish Congress, promising that the Jews of Canada will do everything possible to assist in the rehabilitation of their brethren overseas.
A message was also broadcast to the Jews of Palestine in Hebrew and in English. This was the first short-wave broadcast from Canada to Palestine on behalf of the Canadian Jewish community.
