A. J. Freiman, President of the Zionist Organization of Canada, in the name of the National Council of the Organization, sent to the head office of the Jewish National Fund in Jerusalem, the following cabled message: “Canadian Zionists are profoundly shocked by the passing of our friend and leader, the redeemer of the Valleys of Eretz Israel who symbolized in his life the idealism and indestructibility of Zionism. Canadian Zionists recall with deepest affection Ussishkin’s visit to Canada in 1927 and the part he played in writing a glorious chapter in Canadian Zionism through the redemption of Emek Hepher. Ussishkin’s name and achievements will remain an everlasting inspiration to all who work for the redemption of Zion.”
