In an effort to prevent further attacks upon Jews and Jewish stores in Koenigsberg, where yesterday an attempt on the life of a representative of the Central Union of German Citizens of the Jewish Faith was made, the Central Union today despatched to Koenigsberg, Dr. Alfred Hirschberg, its press chief, to make representations to the authorities.
Dr. Hirschberg will seek to procure for the Jews measures of protection against the Nazis.
He will also investigate the Nazi attempt upon the life of Kurt Sabatzky, its representative, who protested with the East Prussian authorities against the anti-Jewish attacks in Sensburg.
Dr. Sabatzky has on several occasions been threatened by the Nazis and little doubt is felt that the attack upon him was long planned. The Nazis were prevented from carrying out their plans only by the absence of Dr. Sabatzky from home.
The police report on the incident states that three Nazis invaded Sabatzky’s home at six o’clock in the morning and searched every room and every bed without avail.
