Charles Schottland Named Federal Social Security Commissioner

President Eisenhower yesterday named Charles I, Schottland to be Federal Social Security Commissioner. Mr. Schottland has been active in Jewish welfare work. He also held an executive position in the Jewish War Veterans organization

Mr. Schottland is currently director of the California Department of Social Welfare and was previously assistant chief of the Children’s Bureau of the United States Department of Labor. After the collapse of the Nazi regime and the end of the war, he headed the program of repatriation of DP’s from Germany.
