The charter of the Fonds Social Juif Unifie, French equivalent of the United Jewish Appeal in the United States, was adopted last night by a general assembly composed of 250 representatives of Jewish communities in France. The assembly elected 53 members to an executive board.

There was a short but heated debate provoked when the pro-Communist minority criticized other members on charges they were active in the Vichy-sponsored Union Generale des Juife de France. In the end, the charter was adopted without opposition although there were abstentions from the pro-Communist Union Pour la Resistance at 1’Entr ‘Aide. Its spokesman said that the group would reserve its attitude toward the fund.
