Rabbi Leibusch Rokeach, son of the first “Belzer Rebbe,” and scion of the famous Chassidic dynasty, died today. He was 85 years old.
The “Belzer” school of Chassidim was devoted to the study of the Talmud. Secular learning was strictly forbidden them by their founder and teacher. The “Belzer Rebbe” had thousands of followers, not only in Poland but in the countries around, and from their contributions hundreds of married and single Chassidim were enabled to dedicate themselves exclusively to the study of the Holy books.
