Mayor Richard Daley today proclaimed the week of March 3 as “Traditional Synagogue Week,” for the purpose of “promoting the religious and cultural activities of the Jewish people.” The proclamation was issued in connection with the celebrations sponsored by the Chicago Council of Traditional Synagogues, culminating in a reception on March 7 in honor of the presidents of the 30 affiliated synagogues.
