An appeal to the British government for measures to stem the tide of anti-Semitic incitement in England, which is assuming a dangerous character, was made today by the London Jewish Chronicle, in a lengthy editorial.

As an example to be followed, the Chronicle cited the bill prepared by the Dutch government, for protection against anti-Semitic agitation and activities.

The memorandum explaining the Dutch bill states that the measure is essential since slanders of Jewish citizens are becoming most dangerous and assuming the character of an epidemic.

The Dutch parliament is certain to pass the bill, the Chronicle declared, in view of recent revelations that Dr. Goebbels’ propaganda ministry has spent a million and a half marks for anti-Semitic agitation in Holland.

While the Chronicle declared that it realizes the impracticability of introducing legislation in England similar to the Dutch bill, the paper urges administrative measures against British anti-Semitic slanderers.

The Chronicle stressed the danger of allowing printed slanders to be distributed freely in England and to reach ignorant and ill-balanced individuals.
