A resolution calling on the British Government to ###law racial and anti-Semitic defamation will be presented this week-end to the anneals meeting of the National Council for Civil Liberties by its executive, it was horned here this week. The Council is composed of a large number of trade union ### progressive civic groups and includes the Jewish Ex-Servicemen’s Organization ### the British section of the World Jewish Congress.
The resolution expresses regret that the “Porter (Parliamentary) Committee on the Law of Defamation did not recommend the introduction of legislation to make official and anti-Semitic defamation illegal.” It also points out that such legislation has already been adopted in Canada, Poland, Rumania, Sweden and the U.S.S.R. it is expected that the resolution will be carried unanimously.
