Dr. Clarence A. Barbour, president of Brown University, will speak at Temple Emanu-El here this Friday evening at special services commemorating the tenth anniversary of Rabbi Israel M. Goldman’s joining the temple as spiritual leader.
Other speakers will include the Rev. Dr. Allen E. Claxton, president of the Rhode Island Ministers Association; the Rev. W. Earl Ledden, pastor of the Mathewson Street Church; Dr. Elias L. Solomon of New York, honorary president of the United Synagogue of America, and Superior Court Justice Philip C. Joslin. The latter is also president of the congregation.
Two nights later a testimonial banquet will be given Rabbi Goldman at which the speakers will include the Right Rev. Granville G. Bennett, bishop of the Episcopal diocese of Rhode Island; Father Lorenzo C. McCarthy, president of Providence College, and Mayor James E. Dunne of this city.
