The Jewish delegation declined to attend the Congress at Berne and the late Leo Motzkin, who headed the delegation, subsequently declined election to the Congress executive body.
Nahum Goldman, who officially replaced Dr. Motzkin as head of the Committee of Jewish Delegations, also announced today that the World Jewish Congress will not meet this Spring, as had been planned, but will convene during the summer for technical reasons.
While general election of delegates to the assembly will be held in the United States, where a half million are expected to cast votes, in several other countries elections will be impossible. The Labor faction of the Zionist movement remains in vigorous opposition to the holding of the congress and this opposition provides a considerations, particularly in Poland and Palestine.
Dr. Goldman, however, expressed hope that these difficulties would be overcome in the near future and that preparations for the world congress would proceed in a satisfactory manner.
