“I await the retrial of my case with the confidence in British justice which kept me alive for eighteen and a half years,” declared Oscar Slater, who spent eighteen and a half years in Peterhead prison on the charge of having murdered an aged Glasgow woman. Slater was released following a decision by a parliamentary committee that the evidence had been insufficient.
In a press interview today Slater declared that his confidence in British justice had save him when he “was often driven to despair and to the thought of seeking by my own hand had been condemned for a crime I never committed.”
