Professor Heinrich Gruenfeld, one of the most famous cellists of the century, died here to-day at the age of 76. He was a younger brother of Professor Alfred Gruemfeld, the composer and pianist, who died in 1924. They were both born in Prague, where they became famous in their teens and they made numerous joint tours through Austro-Hungary, Germany, Russia, England, and America. The Prussian Government appointed him some years ago to a Professorship of Music in Berlin. In 1923, he published his “Reminiscences of Fifty Years”. He was a noted wit, and his memoirs had a great success because of the many witty anecdotes which he related there.
