Demonstrators in New York protested the building of a memorial and center at the site of the Babi Yar massacre in Ukraine. Organizers said some 45 people demonstrated outside the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee’s headquarters in New York on Monday, the 62nd anniversary of the massacre of 33,000 Jews in Kiev. “We don’t understand the purpose of that demonstration,” said Amir Shaviv, the JDC’s assistant executive vice president.
