Julius Streicher, German Jewry’s public enemy No. 1, today resumed his campaign against the Jews with a series of speeches at mass meetings in the towns of Franconia. Streicher, who is Nazi overlord of that province, complains bitterly that the German people are not showing sufficient anti-Jewish sentiment and are still describing the Jews as “God’s people.”
“Everyone who links up with the Jews is linking up with the devil,” Streicher shouted in addressing an audience of several thousand Germans which completely filled a church and even overflowed into the street. The editor of Der Stuermer admitted that Pastor Keupp, in charge of the congregation, had received many complaints against permitting Streicher to speak in a consecrated church.
Streicher declared that he had never advocated shooting the Jews, since the Nazi party did not desire this, “or the order to shoot the Jews would have been issued during the revolution.”
