Dr. Nahum Goldmann, president of the World Jewish Congress, will make his first visit to Australia later this year to attend the Southeast Asian Conference of Jewish Communal Leaders. The conference will be held in Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra from Nov. 30 to Dec. 5. Dr. Goldmann’s planned visit was inspired by renewed WJ Congress interest in Pacific and Southeast Asian Jewish communities. The Congress considers, these communities among the most isolated Jewish population centers in the world. One of the purposes of the conference is to bring these Jewish communities closer together. So far, few of the leaders representing the communities have indicated their willingness to attend the conference.
