Ehud Olmert invited Pope Benedict XVI to visit Israel. The Israeli prime minister reiterated the long-standing invitation during talks Wednesday with the pontiff in Vatican City. Israel Radio quoted the pope as saying he would be happy to visit the Holy Land “when the political situation calms down.”
