District officer Miller, sitting as a magistrate to-day tried seven Communist suspects who were arrested at the time of the Nebi Moussa procession in Jerusalem, imposing a fine of £250 to be furnished in bonds by each of them on Esther Millstein, Abraham Goldwirt, Leib Friedman, and Chaim Davidovitch. Two were in addition to the fine sentenced to banishment for twelve months from Jerusalem, Miriam Elias being banished to Beer Tuviah, and Sonia Borsh to Rosh Pinah.
Hussein Omar, the only Arab among the prisoners, has been discharged.
The prisoners are unlikely to furnish the bonds required, and will in that case remain in prison.
Although the press was not admitted to the trial, it is understood that the accused were charged with attempting to start a rios when the Nebi Moussa procession from Hebron entered the Old City of Jerusalem, by provoking a clash with the Moslems, and also with the police near the passage leading to the Wailing Wall.
