Professor Albert Einstein left Berlin to-day for England in order to take up residence at Oxford as Rhodes Memorial Lecturer, to which position he was appointed recently while he was still on his visit in the United States. He returned to Germany after his stay in America only in order to take a short rest before proceeding to Oxford to enter on his duties.

The Rhodes Memorial Lectureship was established by the Trustees of the Estate of the late Cecil Rhodes, to be awarded to a man or woman usually residing outside Britain, of outstanding distinction in public life, science, scholarship, letters, or business. The Fellow is required to give two or more public lectures and to reside in Oxford for at least one whole term.
