A group of wide-eyed children held forth at a special seder in Temple Rodeph Sholem, 7 West Eighty-third street, when as guests of the Parent Teachers Association they laughed, sang and answered questions put to them by Rabbi Louis I. Newman on the symbols in ritual Passover.
The youngsters sat at long tables. They enjoyed a repast of grape juice, nuts and raisins and other sweetmeats. Onlookers had no doubts that they enjoyed themselves immensely. What with an Elijah in disguise who wore costume, and an unruly young man who gave the saint away by shouting "That’s my papa" and other extremists who persisted in interrupting the natural order of things with demands for second helpings.
All of which made things merry.
One. of the diminutive guests was asked regarding the meaning of the Pesach egg.
"Easter," was the answer.
And with much confusion the young man’s sister apologized and punished the child with a nudge.
There were other instances of confusion, but parents who stood by during the meal managed to keep the peace.
