A former Nazi officer, Johannes Siegel, was sentenced this week-end to five months’ imprisonment for assailing a Jew in Moers during a political debate and for stating that not enough Jews had been gassed by the Nazis.
Eugen Werth, a former deputy SS commander and commander of a group of smaller concentration camps in southern Wurrtemberg, was arrested here yesterday on charges of murdering many prisoners. Werth, now a merchant here, was detained as a result of findings in an investigation of Franz Hofmann, former SS commander, who was arrested here last April on charges of crimes committed in the Dachai and Auschwitz murder camps.
