Six hundred students of the London secondary schools today heard eminent authorities on racial and religious questions attack Nazi racial theories. Concluding a three-day course sponsored by the Council for Education in World Citizenship, Prof. Selig Brodetsky, president of the Board of Deputies of British Jews and Sir Wyndham Deedes, former Civil Secretary of the Palestine Administration, discussed the Jewish question, while Dr. Margaret Read, head of the Colonial Branch of the Institute for Education, and Prof. Ginzberg of the London School of Economics spoke on radicalism.
Prof. Brodetsky told the students that he was unable to give the approximate total number of Jews in the world at the present time since so many of them are being killed off. “You must understand,” he stressed, “that the Jews are not just stray individuals but are a great people who gave humanity the ethics for which we are fighting today.” The only solution for the Jewish problem, Prof. Brodetsky stated, was to allow Jews to restore their own state in Palestine and “to allow them to share in the privileges of humanity and contribute to progress as a people not merely as individuals.”
