A Jewish family of five yesterday arrived at the Poppendorf camp, near here, and asked permission to rejoin their comrades of the Exodus voyage. The family included Zvi Segal, his wife and three children, who left one of the British deportation vessels at Gibraltar August 28, when the youngest shild, born aboard the ship two weeks earlier, became ill.

Segal and his wife, both of whom were also ill, agreed to leave the ship only under promise that they would be granted a Palestine immigration certificate. However, the day after they landed the promise was withdrawn and they demanded that they be taken aboard their ship. A British doctor insisted that if the baby were returned to the vessel it would die, so the family remained at the island fortress, although they had to sign a statement agreeing to their deportation to Hamburg when the child resovered.

The ship bringing them from Gibraltar docked at Hamburg Tuesday. The entire family entered the camp, except the baby which must remain for a time in a hospital.
