A five-year $15,000,000 program for “the spiritual regeneration of Judaism” in the United States was proclaimed here last night at a conference of 100 Conservative rabbis under the auspices of the Rabbinical Assembly of America, the United Synagogue of America and the Jewish Theological Seminary of America.
Dr. Louis Finkelstein, president of the Jewish Theological Seminary, announced that the program calls for the training of 2,000 rabbis, 2,000 religious teachers and the establishment of Jewish schools and colleges throughout the United States. He said that conversion of Jews to other faiths is reaching such proportions in this country that it if continues at the present rate, Judaism in America will “cease to have any significance” in a generation or two.
