A French military court today granted amnesty to Louis Ferdinand Celina, novelist and anti-Semitic Nazi collaborator during the occupation of France. Celina, who was sentenced to a prison term and confiscation of his property in absentia, is now free to return from Holland to which he fled after the liberation.
His anti-Semitic ravings were considered by some to be worse than those of Julius Streicher, Hitler’s top Jew hater. Celina worked under Otto Abetz, Nazi envoy to Vichy France, and preached the extermination of the Jews.
