Abraham H. Friedland, regarded as America’s most brilliant Jewish educator, died here last night after a long illness at the age of 47. He was director of the Bureau of Jewish Education of Cleveland, president of the Histadruth Ivrith, Hebrew Cultural organization, and head of the Ohio region of the Zionist organization of America.
An essayist and poet, Mr. Friedland worked on stories and essays until the last moment despite the excruciating pain caused by his illness. He completed another book of Hebrew poems just two days before his death. Like the last two volumes, the book will be published in Palestine. Mr. Friedland was active on the national executive of the Zionist Organization and was the closest friend of Rabbi Solomon Goldman, Z.O.A. president who is now in Palestine on a tour, collaborating with him in writing text books and anthologies. He was the author of hundreds of stories for children.
