The West German Federal Supreme Court ordered yesterday a re-trial for George Schlosser, 47-year-old former Czenstochowa Ghetto policeman, who was sentenced by a Bamberg jury court last November to a 10-year term for manslaughter.
The lower court had decided that only the shooting of a 13-year-old Jewish boy in the ghetto had been proven against Schlosser beyond a reasonable doubt. The prosecution had demanded conviction of Schlosser for the murder of at least 25 Jewish victims. The Supreme Court ruling also took note of the complaint by Schlosser that the televising of his trial had been improper.
