Isar Beeri, former Haganah intelligence chief, was charged today with manslaughter in the execution of Meir Tobiansky, Haganah officer whose execution by a court-martial in Jerusalem last year was termed a deplorable mistake by Premier David Ben Gurion recently and who was later completely exonerated and given a hero’s burial.
Beeri will stand trial shortly. The manslaughter charge was lodged against him today by Chief Examining Magistrate A. Malkhi in the Rehovot magistrate court following conclusion of a preliminary hearing.
