Hamas won a surprise victory in Palestinian Authority parliamentary elections. Despite earlier results showing a narrow lead for the ruling Fatah faction in Wednesday’s vote, fuller results suggested that Fatah had been edged out by the terrorist group Hamas, which could take as many as half the seats in the Palestinian Legislative Council. P.A. Prime Minister Ahmed Qurei and his Cabinet resigned after hearing the news Thursday.
