— A memorial service was held here today for Hannah Goldberg, former national executive director of Hadassah who died here last Thursday at the age of 79. She began her affiliation with Hadassah when she joined Junior Hadassah, where she held several leadership positions. She subsequently joined Senior Hadassah in which she served as vice president of the New England Region and was elected to the national board in 1942.
Miss Goldberg was executive director of Hadassah from 1953 to 1971 when she retired and then held the special position of assistant to the president until 1975. She then returned to her native Boston. Prior to her joining Hadassah she had been executive secretary of the Jewish Reconstructionist Foundation.
Miss Goldberg, who attended Boston University and practiced law here for several years after passing the Massachusetts Bar, was a well-known writer for American-Jewish and general periodicals as well as a book reviewer. She had been a member of the Hadassah and Reconstructionist magazines’ editorial boards. Over the years she was a delegate to World Zionist Congresses.
