An El Al Jet was “hijacked” over the Atlantic last night by a group of Israeli Chabad Hasidim, euphoric over their interview with the Lubavitcher Rebbe in New York. The take-over was limited to the plane’s public address system which was used to broadcast Hasidic songs and a detailed account of the interview. When the aircraft landed here this morning the 80 Hasidim aboard took off some 70 kilograms of shmura matzos prepared at the Lubavitcher “court” in New York for distribution to all members of the Chabad village in Israel and to President Zalman Shazar.
