Joachim Nehring, head of the neo-Nazi underground movement “Katakombe Scheinwerfer” (Catacomb Searchlight), was today arrested by German police acting on orders from Camille Sachs, head of the Bavarian Denazification Ministry.
Nehring, an active member of the Nazi Party since 1930 and a former Gestapo member, told the police that he was publishing 2,000 copies a month of the underground publication ” Searchlight” and distributing it “among old Nazi members.” The movement was recently denounced by American occupation authorities in Germany and Nehring’s trial on charges of high treason has been demanded by the German Social Democratic Party.
