Henry Edward Wise, former stock broker and shirt manufacturer of New York who had been living in Paris, France, since 1920, is dead at the age of 50 in Vichy, France, according to word received here yesterday. The funeral was held in Paris.
Mr. Wise was decorated for bravery as a Red Cross official during the World War, when he became a lieutenant in the American Red Cross and was eventually promoted to a captaincy. Mr. Wise was wounded and gassed and received the Croix de Guerre from the French government as well as the Czecho-Slovakian War Cross.
Mr. Wise was born in Baltimore. He was graduated from the Pennsylvania Military College and later attended Columbia University. After engaging for a number of years in the shirt manufacturing business which his father had founded, he entered the Stock Exchange firm of Newburger, Henderson & Loeb, becoming manager of the firm’s office at Twenty-third Street and Fifth Avenue.
