Histadrut Secretary General Yeruham Meshel will resign next month, a year before his term expires, and will not run for re-election to the Knesset. He informed Labor Party chairman Shimon Peres of his plans in a letter recommending his deputy, Yisrael Kessar, to succeed him. Meshel’s resignation will become effective on May 15, the day of the next Histadrut Executive Committee meeting.
