The voluntary enlistment of an additional 10,000 Palestine Jews in the military forces was demanded here today in a resolution adopted at the convention of the Histadruth, the Jewish Federation of Labor, now in session here.

The resolution puts all 126,000 members of the Histadruth under a “recruitment regime” It emphasizes that sanctions will be imposed by the labor unions against those who seek to avoid their duty.

Another resolution passed by the conference adds two hours to the working day in Palestine. The payment received for one of these hours must be contributed by the workers to the fund for aiding the families of Jewish soldiers, providing that the employers contribute an equal sum for the same purpose, the resolution states.

A message of “warm greetings and encouragement” to the Jews in Soviet Russia was sent by the conference which is being attended by approximately 400 delegates. The conference issued a declaration condemning the British White Paper which limits Jewish immigration and land purchases and demanding the admission into Palestine of all refugees fleeing from Nazi persecution. An appeal was also issued to the Jews of America and of the British Empire to take upon themselves “maximum responsibility for the bleeding Jews in Nazi-dominated Europe and for the threatened Jewish homeland.”
