The theatrical weekly Variety reported from Budapest today that Hungary film and theatrical enterprises were virtually at a standstill as a result of the anti Jewish legislation.
Although the theatrical season is scheduled to start in less than a month, a Budapest dispatch to the paper said, there was uncertainty as to which of Budapest’s privately owned theatres would open in the fall. The lull in film production, the dispatch said, was also the result of shaken confidence produced by the anti-Semitic laws.
