Action by the International Union of League of Nations Societies on the Roumanian Jewish sitnation was postponed until next October, following a heated debate which took place in the committee on minorities.
The committee, which was in session all day Friday, continued the discussion on the Roumanian Jewish situation.
Emil Margulies, representative of the League of Nations Society in Czechoslovakia, and Mr. Wischniak, representing the Russian Democrats, took exception to the defense offered by Professor Pangrati, dean of the University of Bucharest, in his reply to the charges of Mr. Dizengoff, former Mayor of Tel Aviv.
The Roumanian Jews are loyal citizens of their country and do not deserve to be placed under legal disabilities and certainly not to be delivered to the wrath of the mob, the speakers contended. They introduced a motion asking that the International Union send an investigation Commission to Roumania. Finally, the committee adopted the resolution of Mr. Dizengoff to postpone the discussion of all minority problems until the next session of the Union in October.
