Iarael has arranged a gift of 712 book shelf units to public and parochial schools and churches here in which libraries were destroyed in the April 3 tornado. Yaakov Keinan. consul for press and information for the Consulate General of Israel in Chicago, arrived here a few days ago to make arrangements for the gift.
On behalf of Chicago Consul General Shaul Ramati, Keinan met with Mayor William Wilson, Superintendent of Schools Carl Adkins, Greene County Library Director John Wallach and the Xenia Daily Gazette editor Jack Jordan to discuss the needs.
City officials decided 576 units would be needed to replace those in libraries destroyed by the tornado in four schools. Another dozen units were arranged for a parochial elementary school, and 124 for libraries in churches and the county historical society building.
