United Nations headquarters here today announced that discussions between Israel and Transjordan, aimed at establishing a single demarcation line between the two countries in Jerusalem, have begun in the Israeli-Transjordan mixed armistice commission. The purpose of these negotiations is to dissolve the still existing areas of no-man’s land in Jerusalem and its environs.
At today’s meeting, both parties received a proposal worked out by United Nations observers for an equitable partition of the area around Government House in which the United Nations Palestine headquarters are located. Both parties agreed today that they would submit the proposal to their respective governments for detailed study, the U.N. announcement said.
