The election of a President of the Jewish State to succeed the late Dr. Chaim Weizmann will take place tomorrow in Parliament, but no special excitement over this event was noticeable today either in the press or among the people.
It is taken for granted that Itzhak Ben Zvi, leader of the Mapai Labor Party, has the best chance to become President. However, his strongest opponent is Rabbi Mordecai Nurok who has the support of all the religious groups. The other candidates are Dr. Itzhak Gruenbaum of the leftist Mapam Party and Dr. Peretz Beanstein, leader of the General Zionist Party.
